Golden Spiral Acrylic on canvas, 100cm x 100cm
Atoms dancing in spirals, the geometry of our DNA, the proportions of our body… everywhere we find the Golden Ratio at play. It is the proportion of beauty. A Golden Spiral is a logarithmic spiral whose growth factor is phi (φ) – the Golden Ratio. This can be closely approximated by using the Fibonacci sequence, which is generated by adding the two previous numbers to generate the next (e.g. 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21…). Many famous ancient works of architecture, such as the Great Pyramid of Giza, were built with the Golden Ratio in mind. This Ratio guides matter and the movement of energy in the Universe; it is Nature’s perfect proportion for bringing parts together in a greater whole.
